Angela Carranza
Angela Carranza is a Houston-based nonprofit leader with a strong background in arts programming and professional development for artists. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Fresh Arts, a nonprofit supporting local artists and public arts initiatives, and has served in several positions at the organization since 2011. She also serves a dual role as the Cultural Arts Director for Arts District Houston, a state-designated cultural district managed by Fresh Arts. Angela’s leadership at Fresh Arts includes the launch of new programs and initiatives including the Fresh Arts Summit in 2019 and The Space Taking Artists Residency in 2021 which continue to serve as platforms to amplify the voices of traditionally underrepresented local artists.
Before Fresh Arts, she spent a decade in the interior design industry primarily as a small business manager and design consultant for high-end residential projects. She is experienced in furniture design, art curation, decorative painting, and event planning.
She is passionate about supporting her local community and has served on committees for United Way of Houston, Houston Furniture Bank, and the Mayor’s Millennial Advisory Board for the City of Houston. In 2023, Angela joined the steering committee for the Houston Alliance of Latinx Artists (HALA) and serves on the board of directors for Barrio Dogs, an animal welfare organization supporting low-income communities in Houston’s East End.
She has served on the HALA steering committee since 2023.
